Preterm Labor History?

I'm 26 weeks along with my fourth child on the way. I have a history of preterm labor. With my first child I had preterm labor at 4 mo. and hospitalized for 4 mo. and delivered at 37 wks. My second pregancy I went into preterm labor at 26 wks. and in the hospital for almost 3 mo. and my membraines ruptured at 36 weeks. My third pregancy I also had preterm labor at 6 mo. with bed rest. My last doctor stated that if I plan to have any more children to except another episode of preterm labor. My question is I now live in Florida and my previouse births were at Sharp Mary Birch in SanDiego, California. As soon as I became pregnate I gave all my information to my OB Doctor here in Florida, I have alot of the symptoms as before and I have been to the hospital many times for tighning and cramps. My OB office did not get my records from California.I have seen the nurse practitioner more than my OB, with my history.I feel that my OB is not taking my history seriously. What should I do?

I'm seeing a perinatologist every month at the hospital, and everytime I go I let him know all of my discomforts. I went to the Triage in Labor & Delivery to get checked and was on the monitor and the nurse put the contraction monitor way above my naval when all my tightning was below my naval. I told the nurse to lower the contraction monitor to below my navel because in the past hospitilizations I remember the nurses had a very hard time detection my contractions and they had to put the fetal montitor and the contraction monitor close together below my navel to have better accuracy of my contractions. Being in and out of hospitals many times I got to know my body very, very well. Everytime my uterus gets tight I have to breath heavily and have pressure down there. I haven't had my cervix checked since I was 11 wks. I have a feeling that has changed but they will not check, why I don't know. They always tell me it is normal to feel that at this stage, but with my history I don't know?

Change doctors. That's really the only thing you can do. I'd do it asap just in case you're going through the same thing now (which are good chances, obviously)....
Good luck - remember - you have the right to any doctor you want. Just 'cause you have this one, doesn't mean you can't have another! :-)

You NEED a doctor who takes you seriously! And so does the baby! See a doctor who specializes in high-risk pregnancies.

change doctors cause thats nothing to play with

Definately switch doctors!!!

with your history you should definitely be seeing a perinatologist, not a regular OB. i would look one up tomorrow! they would probably want to see you more frequently also, so they can check for signs of PTL.
