I know a lil boy who has cancer ( had a 25% chance of living) and is now doing wonderfully. Some say it was?

...prayer that healed him. There must've been a few hundred thousand people praying for this boy. ( I live in a small city, now, and his Mom is a nurse practitioner at a large hospital who knows everyone in town, it seems!)

IS the power of prayer really that strong?? Do you think it is prayer or medicine that is curing him?

If they took him off the medicine, how long would he survive? People praying has an effect of renewing his strength to live on, but other than that, it's all a matter of faith.

Schneb I don't understand your query. My point is simply that if you took him off the medicine he'd be a gonner. I cannot ascertain the psychological power of prayer without data.

royrox, you need to post this under religion and spirituality under society, you will get much better responses than the ones I see here.

When it comes to cancer, it would be justifiable to thank God, wouldn't it? Why should it surprise people that God would answer prayer? There is a God and He hears His people. And I thank Him right now that it was His will that this little boy be healed. He must have a great plan for him.

uw_wi_josh-It's funny, if you have faith in God and took him off the medicine, you would say that we were being irresponsible with the boy's health. Make up your mind. Why can't God provide the strength and healing through the medicine and give Him glory for the knowlege that came up with drugs? When you are talking cancer, we are talking pretty heavy duty illness.

I think the doctors - nurses and medicine need more praise.

It is medicine. while prayer can add a psychological component and give the child mental stamina to survive, it is the treatment and biology at work.

Sadly, small remissions in child hood cancers are common and sadly short lived for far too many kids.

From personal experience, prayer is that powerful because God is that powerful. I almost died at age 22 due to complications from a minor surgery - and I believe I was healed because of God providing healing to my body. God hears all prayers and answers them according to what His perfect will is - sometimes He says Yes, sometimes No, and sometimes He wants us to wait and trust Him.

I know that prayer is that strong! My daughter also had a condition that was incurable. She is now strong and doing very well. If this wasn't a public forum, I would tell the story, but I do not feel comfortable sharing here. She is a miracle in skin!

Thousands of people have prayed for our daughter, also. Her doctor agreed to pray. The local churches prayed. Then I got word that a girl in India was praying. And a church in Brazil. One little girl, who could barely talk, with some special learning challenges prayed for her EVERY day without fail. And my own little boy used to pray every day, "Please help TT not to chuck." (She was having problems holding down food.) I KNOW God answered their (and our) prayers.

Continue to pray for that little boy. My daughter had "NO" chance, and her condition stabilized. Another of her doctors actually said, "I guess you got the miracle you were praying for."

May God continue to bless that little boy.

I believe in the power of prayer. I believe doctors help but it is God that knows our will & fate. Continue to pray for the lil boy, continue to pray for the family's stregnth, continue to pray for the lil boy's doctors, continue to pray for everything that surrounds/ impacts this lil boy & his health.

I'm sure you've heard before about the power of prayer. It is true. I know from experience.

"When 2 or more gather in HIS name..."

I think it was the medicene and his belief that he will survive. I think that the prayers showed him that people believed that he would survive and made him believe that he could overcome the cancer; I think thats all the prayers did. I also think that the boy had a strong will to surivive also helped.
