Is a painful cough a symptom of strep?

I was told by a nurse practitioner three days ago that I have strep throat(I'm taking amoxcillin) Every now and then I have a bad cough which hurts my throat and chest a lot. I also seem to be getting nosebleeds in both nostrils(it could just be that I get frequent nosebleeds). I am gargling with salt water and taking lozenges and eating sherbet. I am also using a humidifier 24/7. Will my cough go away over time or is something serious?

It is all about a certain ingredient in the cough syrup.It has to have GUAIFENESIN. in it or it wont work . try in the children's cough syrup it is called Safe tussin . One day of this ingredient and you will feel your healing .
