Will nurse practitioners be in increased demand in the future? |
considering the number of baby boomer retiring from medicine. Absolutely. Not just because of retired nurses, but because the APN who is an NP will be used more and more because of the doctor shortage which will continue AND because they cost less to employ. The NP is going to be obsolete by 2015, and will be changed into the DNP. So, NP's won't be needed but DNP's will be. So, if you are thinking of becoming an NP I would recommend researching a DNP instead, as it would probably work out better for you in the long run. Yeah. |
