What does a Nursing Practitioner do and is it stress full. Can anyone give me any information about the job? It depends on the clinical area of expertise, you could be a pediatric NP, a neonatal NP, an adult health NP, etc. But generally you function in almost the same capacity as a doctor. You see patients either in a clinic or in hospital, you assess their condition, help create a plan of care, write prescriptions for medications, order labs, etc. There is less bedside nursing where you are formally caring for your patient. they basically do the same thing as a doctor, they just don't have that extra degree to make certain decisions I would think that it can be incredibly stressful given how much responsibility NP's have. They can diagnose, treat and prescribe medication to patients though under supervision of a physician. The NP needs to first get their R.N. (registered nurse) from a program that offers a bachelor of science in nursing thus getting a BSN. The person then may apply for acceptance (looking at the prerequisite courses and other requirements beforehand) into a nursing practitioner program which I believe is at the master's degree level. a NP can pretty much do everything that a dr can, except write rx's for controlled substances and surgery. its really a nice job. yes it is stressful, because u have to deal different people with diff characters. so u r to be patience |
