Would you like to go to a physician's assistant or nurse practitioner for your basic health care?

Not an either/or question, just would you like to go to one either one instead of a doctor?

My family sees a nurse practitioner on a regular basis for colds and basic illnesses. She's great and it doesn't cost as much to see her. They can still write perscriptions. I take our kids to a pediatrician for their yearly check-ups just to have a thorough exam.

no. i will only see an M.D. for any of my concerns that I can't figure out myself.

physician's assistant
however i rather go to the MD

They arent any cheaper where i live either

I usually do. Most people do and may not realize it because we have a MASSIVE shortage of doctors in the US.
There rarely is any significant difference because UNLESS the person has a serious health problem that needs diagnosis (such as figuring out the person has cancer and how to treat him) a PA or NP is just as good or better than the average doctor. In fact, depending on the situation the NP/PA could be as good for diagnosis and treatment plan because they have FOCUSED on their specialty and are supervised and the things they didn't cover in any depth are irrelevant (a 50-year-old man diagnosed with lung cancer misses out on NOTHING if his PA doesn't know diddly about OB/GYN practices).
