I am a nurse practitioner in California and going to be self employed. what is the best way to go about this?

I have heard it is best to open a corporation, but I am not sure which one. should I go for LLC or S coporation. Thanks

The answer to your query are as varied as the options. If there is an expectation to expand in the future, an S corp is advisable. In many communities there are business incubators which assist prospective business owners organise most legal aspects of set up and on-going operations. It is also advisable to complete a comprehensive business plan to include financial and marketing plans. This will assist in articulating and defining how your product/service differentiates from competitors. Additionally, seek out networking organisations which can assist in mentoring, coaching and providing referrals. Speak to everyone you can who will provide constructive feedback. There are so many who have something negative to disseminate. It is not advisable to listen to any negative or destructive feedback.

You are not too swift, Ms. Nurse Practitioner......why are you asking these dumb people on Yahoo??? DUH!!! You need to speak to an attorney!!!

You can find what your looking for by searching s elective on the web. The LLC. keeps you personal property safe if a law suit is put against you. Its not a S CORP. Its S elective on your corporation. Its all got to do with taxes.!! Do your homework and see a lawyer before going on your own.
