To become a nurse practitioner, do I have to major in nursing, or can I major in another science field? |
I would like to major in biology, biomedical science, or biomedical engineering, instead of nursing. Can I still go on to the NP programs? Are there any other good majors other than nursing to get into the NP programs? To become a NP you have to get a Bachelors in Nursing & pas the RN exam. If that is not quite what you want--look into becoming a Physicians Assistant. To be an NP, you need to be a licensed RN first. You have to MAJOR in NURSING. You need to be an R.N, BSN, to start working towards your nurse practitioner degree. |
