I am a nurse practitioner. I am in with another nurse practitioner. She and her husband own the business.?

We are writing articles for a local newspaper. Her picture and name was placed alongside the article that I wrot. I called the paper and wanted a correction. My employer said that I needed to drop it to keep my job. I call BS on this. What do you think?

as long as your name is in there u shouldn't make it a big deal. they should have ur face, but just don't let it happen again.

You should see if you can get the newspaper to give you credit too for the article. You should be able to get credit for what you wrote, but I think that's she might have taken credit for your work and now it would be an embarrassment for her if you had the newspaper correct the error. You don't want to lose your job because of this,, but be aware for next time

She is in effect plagerizing your work by keeping her name on it and also blackmailing you. I would quit if I were you. Nurse practitioners are in high demand practically everywhere so finding a new job wouldnt be an issue I assume. Also, if you do quit you should write a letter to the editor (the kind that get published in the newspaper) explaining her shaddy practices and how she took your credit for the article. Also your state licensing board and employment dept's should also be contacted. The licensing board most likely holds nurse practitioners accountable for ethical violations and they most likely can put your complaint on her record. Bottom line, please dont be silent about this. She is stealing your work and blackmailing you basically. Good luck.
