What does a nurse practitioner's job entitle them to do?

i was just wondering what a nurse practitioner does

Nurse practitioners can perform many of the duties that doctors can. Their scope of practice (the duties they're trained and legally allowed to do) vary by state, but all states allow them to prescribe medications. They can also order diagnostic tests, perform certain procedures and bill insurance agencies and medicare/medicaid. In some states, NPs can open their own private practices and work without the supervision of a doctor.

Basically, what a nurse practitioner does depends greatly on where they live and the field that they're in. Nurse practitioners often specialize in a particular field. There are neonatal NPs, geriatric NPs, acute care NPs, and many more.

They're like a doctor-light. They can see certain types of patients with certain types of acuity. They can prescribe medications and some radiology tests. Basically simple doctoring.
