Nurse Practitioner writing prescriptions on any piece of paper? |
My husband ( a retired Nurse Practitioner) was arrested recently for prescribed 3 Rx, none of which were narcartics. He happened to write on an old Rx pad from a job 5 years ago. He was arrested because the pharmacist called the MD and the MD said that he could not use that Rx pad anymore. My husband says that he could write an Rx on a piece of toilet paper! The pharmacies even have blank prescriptions pads for the medical providers to use. Can anyone find the statute that says that a Nurse Practitioner can write a script on ANYTHING. thanks! your husband is retired though doesnt that make a difference..i am pretty sure it does considering he is not practicing any more..his license is probably expired. I think it's at the MD's discretion, since his name was on the prescriptions as well. He could get sued for malpractice if the prescriptions were wrong. Also, if he's retired, is he even still a LICENSED Nursed practitioner? I think your hubby's wrong. Sorry. Hi |
