Nurse Practicioner question.?

I was wondering how long it takes and what the average salary.

this is such a good question.

to become a Nurse Practicioner, you first must receive
BSN from any Univerisity, which makes you an R.N.
Another 18 months of a certain specialty will give you an
extra credential to be a Nurse Practicioner.

You may want to do OB-GYn, general medicine, or anesthesia,
and so forth....so many specialties.

keep in mind that you must always work under the orders of
an M.D, they don't have to be present while you work, but if
you need certain prescriptions or procedures that require
an M.D. you are not able to perform this.......the pay is OK
and it feels good to see how much you can do for your
community.....

As a current med student, I'd say it's definitely worth looking into. I'm looking at 4 years of med school (paying $120,000), 4 years of residency (making less than minimum wage), then a lifetime of insurance fights and lawsuits. Sorry to be so negative, but I'm in the middle of exams and we're all looking around at each other wondering what we're doing here.
