Which is better to be a nurse in the USA or a cabin crew at emirates airlines?

salary of nurse per month is $5000.
but pls consider the cost of living and taxes in the USA.

while in emirates, you are based in Dubai. they offer a tax free salary of $2000 with free accomodation, hotel allowances, and annual ticket to your home country. thanx!!!

I'd go with the cabin crew in Dubai. While, $5,000 per month sounds great on paper - kiss 1/2 of that goodbye in Federal and State taxes, Social Secuity, health insurance benefits, etc.... If they are offering $5,000 per month, you are probably living/working in an area with a very high cost of living, so whatever is left of your paycheck will not go very far. For example, if you were going to be working in NYC, your entire paycheck (after taxes) will just barely cover your rent, because a one room studio apartment with a kitchenette starts at around $2,500 in NYC. (Unless you have a room mate or live in a less expensive area - but then you need to consider transportation to your job: convienance and cost. If you live in a less expensive area, the reason it is cheaper is because it is not as convienant to live in that area.) Other living expenses will eat up whatever is left of your paycheck leaving you with not much money to put into savings or even to go out once a week with friends.

PLUS, nurses work long and hard hours here in the USA. Teachers and Nurses are the most underpaid and unappreciated professions here unfortunately. It's not right, but that's just how the salary vs. hours goes here. Hopefully, some day that will change, but for now - that's how it is here in the USA.

After all that is taken into consideration - the salary comes out to about the same after taxes. But keep in mind the job: Would you rather be paid about $2,000-$2,500 for a thankless, unglamourous job that will leave you exahausted and broke or for the same amount of money you can live all expenses paid and work for an exciting, glamourous job where you get to travel all over the world? (Not to mention: the airline doesn't have "emptying bedpans and disposing of medical waste" in the job description. Eww yeck!)

For me, personally, I would rather deal with airline passengers than medical patients if its the same salary. A 12 hour shift on an international flight would give me better satisfaction than a 12 or 16 hours shift in the Emergency Room or trauma center. But then again, I can take the sight of blood and I'm not good in life and death situations - my adrenaline gland can't take 12-16 hours of that kind of life and death pressure every day.

Go with the airline. It just sounds like a better job, better perks, better benefits all around. And Dubai is GORGEOUS!!!!

PS. I don't want to give the impression that there is anything wrong with being a nurse: It's a very high calling in life that can be physically and emotionally draining. In addition to the long hours, it can be devistating to lose patients if you are working in certain units. I have friend who work in trauma and they say it can really do a number on you mentally because you cannot always separate yourself from the job emotionally.

Regardless of your choice - I wish you good luck in your career decision! Since the salary is about the same - choose with your heart.

Sure! No problem. I'm glad I could help. If you have any other questions - feel free to email me. Good luck with what ever you decide to do. Take care! Report It

but you can be a nurse in any state in the USA and maybe limited travel via emirates airlines... goodluck on your choice.

I would take Dubai myself. I am also considering putting resumes out to UAE. Cost of living in USA going up but no increase in minimum wage for over 10 years???????? By the way, let me know how you got info on the airline job. I have considered being a flight attendent at some point and would be interested to know. Why not look for a nursing position in UAE. That would be an option too especially if you have the eucation already.

well seems you are already fixed on what you want to do but think about Job satisfaction what can you get for 3000.
does it really cost that much a month to live in the US.
Think of the abuse you get espesialy from passengers.I see it
and its not nice sometimes I feel Quite sorry for them.
I used to travel a lot with my Job as i am based in Egypt.

Cabin Crew for every reason..Its just the best..
