Which job is more flexible, in demand, and has a good starting salary? Nursing or Computer Majors?

The questions seems to sum it up.

Nursing is a good sentimental choice, as there is a shortage in the US. Nursing does need a fair amount of education, and the working hours can be tough unless you get into a private practice.

Personally I would think that computer majors have a bit more flexibility, as you can work in any industry -- finance, government, hospitals for that matter, etc. The amount of training that you need differs somewhat role by role. And the earnings potential at the top end is much higher than nursing.

Good luck!

Nursing is better. It may not pay quite as well but you will always be able to find work wherever you want to live.

The answer leaves open too many variables. A CCNA {cysco certified network associate} diploma is a highly sought after credential but its hard to break into. If you mean programming in general programmers will always be needed. If you mean BSN, nurses are badly needed in hospitals because the burn out rate is really high.

I would go the nursing route. I would recommend pursing an LPN (or LVN) with a Specialty if you do not have the financial means to become a RN. If you are looking at the highest demand. Think "ICU" as we call them. NICU and PICU positions are extremely in demand right now. - individuals with RN positions in the NICU or PICU are under high stress but have the world at their finger tips. In CA, we have individuals with 2 years experience making 90k in these positions.

I believe the demand for all nursing positions will grow. If you can pursue it and have the personal aptitude for Nursing. I'd say go for it!

Nursing will allow you to pick up shifts at a per diem rate (PRN) once you have experience. And in the future you could become a Nurse Practitioner and really bring in some good $$.

Good luck!
