Are Anesthesiologist Assistants and Nurse Anesthetists the same thing?

Are Anesthesiologist Assistants and Nurse Anesthetists the same thing?

No.

A Nurse Anesthetist is technically a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, because they are also registered nurses.

They are BSN-RN's who have usually one-year experience in critical care and then complete an average of 3 years in a CRNA program.

There is actually no such thing as an Anesthesiologist Assistant...what you are probably referring to is an Anesthesia Technician, but very, very few hospitals hire those individuals.
