Rejected Puppy? |
A few hours ago my dog began to reject one of her puppys. She wont allow it to nurse and has physically attacked it several times. I called the vet and briefly spoke to the assistant who was of no help at all and said "That sometimes happens". She is 5 days old. I called anouther vet and she gave me a recipe that was very similar to the ones posted on here. Here we go! Go to the pet store and get puppy milk and bottles, heating pad to keep it warm and Feed it yourself. Some times when the mother dose this there is something wrong with the puppy but you can try and save it. Good luck Maybe she didn't want to have this litter. Maybe the world doesn't need another litter of puppies. You can buy milk replacer but you may not have time to do this. I know a recipe off the internet that my friend said worked on her puppy There is something wrong with it!!!! That is why the mom rejected it!! Sounds mean but the is natural. Try taking it under your wing. put the puppie somewhere safe or take it with you. keep him warm. go to ur local pet store and they have baby bottles and puppy formula they will teach u what to do there and tell u what else u may need to get. ask them what to look for to take it to the vet if u need to. the puppy will need to be fed every 2 hours. can u do it? or get a puppy sitter? its not easy ive done it. try a diffrent vet or lok up somthing online or hand feed it. I have read stories like this before, from what ive read the mother thinks that there's something seriously wrong with the puppy. ive had this happen a couple of times.there is something wrong with the puppy. i know it sounds wierd.but its true.the mother can sense it,so she rejects it to provide more nourishment for the rest of the litter.have the puppy checked by a vet. the vet also sells puppy formula and specialy made nipples to feed the puppy.dont get your hopes up ive done this a few times with only a 25% success rate.good luck Strangely enough, I was talking to my vet about this today. His recipe is You don't say how old these puppies are? If they do not have their eyes open, there is less chance of you raising it without mom. You can use an eyedropper or a puppy bottle to feed it every 2-3 hours. I use goat's milk, but maternalac or other puppy milk replacer will also work. If you have to, take the other pups off mom and put this one on her bottom udders. Make her lie and don't let her hurt it. Just hold her down and make her nurse the baby. |
