Tattoo question? |
I have tattoos and I would like to say that they has never affected whether or not I could get a job. I have seen nurses, doctors, dental assistants, bank tellers, etc. with tattoos. My mom is an accountant in a nice office and some of the people she works with have tattoos. I am a nanny and I have tattoos on my chest and the people I work for don't care. They said that as long as my tattoos are positive it doesn't matter if they are visible, and I agree. I am sick of people thinking that if you have tattoos you won't be able to get a good job, because you can! I know a girl with tattoos on her neck who works in a grocery store. As long as you look clean and polished, people generally don't care. Me! lol My sister has six tattoos and she is a professional. She is a legal assistant in a predominant foreclosure law firm here in Kansas City. She is allowed to have tattoos. She just cant show them. She has to wear large bandages over the ones that are visible. My company doesn't hire if your tattoos show. As long as they are covered it doesn't matter. I don't tell current or any future employers that I have one unless they ask me face to face. Most 3 star and up hotels won't hire. It really depends on the job. Most high end jobs that deal with alot of customer interaction is a must then they won't hire someone with tattoos that are visible when wearing normal clothing. uhh tattoos on her neck and working at a grocery store? try getting a job at a professional business with those same tattoos. maybe shes at the grocery store for a reason. keep them under clothes and theyre fine. I defintely am. I also hate the stereotype that all tattooed people are all partyers, drinkers, druggies, etc. It's annoying! I agree! I don't have a tattoo ( I am 13) but want one when I get older. My dad & grandma always say "God didn't put tattoos on people, so I guess he doesn't want them on people!" That's wrong.... I agree with you 100%. I hate stereotyping period, but for people to just make those assumptions are ludicrous. I have 7 tattoos, 2 which are very visible, and I worked in accounting for a Fortune 500 company. The VP of said company had his whole back done and no one was the wiser. I think the tattoo haters would be extremely surprised to find out that their doctors, lawyers, and co-workers may have tattoos and they would never know. you may be sick of it but thats life, people can still hold that against you upon hiring. You might be able to get just any ol job but what happens if the ONE job you really want is biased against tattoos, it happens im tellin ya. If you wanna fight the system you have to be prepared to deal with your actions. not only am i sick of the "You are not going to be able to get a job if you have tattoos", I have a tat and i love tats. But, i work in a professional field, and even though i don't have a problem with it you never know who will. I think it really depends on what you want to do with your life (Job wise). For example, if you are a doctor, your patients might look at you like who is this person with tattoos all over. It sucks but we do live in a judgmental world. First impressions are extremely important. So, i think that it all depends. If your a musician, artist, self employed then i think its more acceptable. But if your like me, then you have to cover them up for work. But when I'm not at work i don't cover any of my art up. |
