Why i only see the doctor briefly? |
Whenever I have gone to a doctor(including dentists) it seems like the nurses and assistants are the only ones who have done the tests on me? the doctor comes in later, seems to take a quick look, and ask me if i have any questions. I have also noticed that the nurses all wear white, and the doctor wears regular clothes. do they have to do a lot of paper work and business crap. and why does it seem like the nurse does most of the "dirty work" I definitely agree that doctors do NOT spend as much time with their patients as they should. But then again, there are many reasons for that. . .one of which is that nowadays, there are more and more people using the health care system. So often times, doctors aim to treat patients as quick as possible so that they can move onto the next patient. Another significant reason why doctors make "brief" visits is because they follow a different medical model/philosophy than nurses do. MDs follow the Biomedical Model which basically means that they are solely focused on diagnosing the disease and attempting to cure it. That is the fact of life...the women do the "dirty work" get paid peanuts and go home exhausted while the "head honcho" takes home big bucks and still has time for golf. As a nurse, we set things up to make life easier for the Dr. so he has time to see his patients and not spend time doing paperwork. If the Dr. did your EKG, drew your blood, gave your shots, how much time would he have left to see his patients? |
