Would you get a new ob-gyn if.....?

i went to be ob-gyn on 10-19-07 & found out that I was pregnant. they scheduled an ultrasound 2 weeks later (11-1-07) and had blood work (HCG counts to make sure the numbers were going up). i went to it. there was blood around the empty sac- i assumed the worse, i cancelled the follow up ultrasound. i cancelled my first prenatal appointment & scheduled an abortion instead.
I couldn't go through with the abortion on 11-9-07 (friday) and had my follow up ultrasound on 11-9-07 (friday) and i had more blood work done on 11-8-07 to see if my numbers were still going up despite the blood around the sac.
well on 11-13-07, i called the office to reschedule my 1st prenatal visit. which would have been today - 11-27-07. the nurse's assistant took it upon herself to cancel the appointment becuz she thought the appointment was made in error due to a note in the system about me terminating. so they cancelled and i showed up.... i now go 12-5-07

First of all good for you to change your mind. It sounds like you are already bonding with the baby. Second... I understand what people are saying about letting it go but if you are not comfortable there are other doctors out there. I have to say if it were me I would have insisted they make room for me since it was their error... But that's just me.
I showed up for an ultra sound and although my paperwork had that date on it the receptionist said it was for the next day. I got really mad and insisted she call to see if they could fit me in. i made sure she knew I had no intention of changing my schedule for their misunderstanding... They got me right in!

no i wouldnt...it was ALL a big mis understanding.

It was just a simple error, why get a new ob?

sometimes it is hard to get doctors, and it doesnt sound like there was anything particularly wrong here besides a misunderstanding. i would just forgive and forget and go on with your appointments. hope this helps!

No, I wouldn't. the office shouldn't have rescheduled the appointment without calling you first. but that doesn't mean that you should get a new doctor. It was just human error. If you like the dr. and you like the people there, you should take that into consideration. but if you want to have an appointment earlier that would be a different story, i think the dr. would understand.

Okay, I am completely biased here... but this is my personal experience:

My doctor, from the very beginning, had little "mishaps" like this all the time - messed up appointments, misunderstandings, etc etc etc... I should have gotten a new doctor the FIRST time I felt dissatisfied with him, because NOW the problems have escalated. I am 39 weeks pregnant, I can never get in to see my doctor, he ignores me, his staff is idiotic, and I don't want him anywhere near my baby, but it is too late to switch doctors.

Switch. Believe me, it is better safe than sorry. Get someone who seems like they have a capable staff.

I don't know if I would switch doctors based on this...like some folks have said, it was a human error. It happens sometimes. I am a little surprised they didn't squeeze you in, though...

However, I could see you losing confidence in these folks after this. Is this the same gynocologist you went to prior to finding out you were pregnant? If you've developed a relationship with them and this is the first slip-up they've had in years, I'd say to stick around. If this is a new ob/gyn you're seeing such a mistake isn't as passable. In that case I'd be more inclined to find a new one.

it was just an error, but they shouldve called you as well before they cancelled your appointment
