What sorts of inventions make money?

I've submitted some invention ideas to an invention marketing firm that seems legitimate--The Big Idea Group in Manchester New Hampshire. Problem is it seems like they're only looking for sure-fire ideas.

Suddenly I'm realizing that inventing is the one way I've ever thought I could earn a significant income. Right now my most viable alternative is to become a (male) assistant nurse. So without giving away the types of inventions I submitted, I'd like to ask, what kinds of inventions have gauranteed market value?

Are they small innovations on common items, completely new inventions that might not catch on at first, or maybe a new angle on something traditional? Maybe if I knew the answer I could focus my future efforts in a more practical direction.

Lol- if someone really knew the answer to your query, they wouldn't be pecking away at this keyboard with an answer!

I think you need to go to the beginning- "find a need and fill it". Find an invention that fills a very large need, perhaps even a yet unknown need (a la velcro) and you will be a rich lad indeed.

Look for something that benefits the whole community from kids to elderly people. If it helps the people, then it might be better received. Good Luck!!!
