Would This Type Of Service Be Welcome? |
Your opinion counts & would be appreciated. This service that I鈥檓 talking about would assist our elderly and disabled community that live in nursing homes, assistant living type facilities and even those that still lived in their homes. This service would not be your traditional care giving services that most are use to. But still very helpful to those that don't need care giving around the clock. I would be able to offer senior鈥檚 friendship as well as help with personal hygiene if needed running errands for their supply, befriend those that that enjoy getting their daily or weekly visits. This service would be for 3 hours a day for one day a week or more. Some families just can鈥檛 find the time to assist their loved ones and bring them the supplies they need when in assisted care. This type of service is a perfect solution to this ongoing problem. Do you think this is the type of service that the San Antonio area would welcome? That is an EXCELLENT idea ! There are companies that aready provide these services, as you probobly already know. Good luck on your business venture, and I hope the people in your care receive the utmost respect and honesty from you. Report It you might want to contact your local area on aging, welfare department, senior services action center or some other government agency who could answer your question easier than here. I am totally unfamiliar with the services and logistics of the San Antonio area. This type of service is great, but what if they can't afford to pay you? All people need this regardless of their ability to pay. But why would someone pay for friendship? That should be given freely, as to a lonely senior, friendship is priceless. I have worked in retirement homes and I think it would be welcolmed; there are people are frustrated because they can't get what they need, or get to where they want to go. Most of them do have buses that take them to the store, but it's not always where they want to go and a lot can't ride a bus. They usually have a driver who takes them to Dr. Appts. and such but they have a limited area too. I am just not sure of all the legalities in such an operation. My Mother in-law lives with us, and the type of service you describe is in fact; an ongoing business. It's a wonderful idea, maybe you can approach some senior care agencies with it or some mental health agencies that have senior programs. Yes, it is a valuable service. Here in our area, we have many private agency services, such as Visiting Nurse, Birth and Beyond (for both new parents, and elderly), Families First, and many more government services. This service has been around for several years now. This is the kind of service that any district would welcome! Running errands for people is a service that works effectively when the people being served have busy lives and are rather well-to-do. |
