How can we get competant, qualified healthcare anymore? |
More and more everything is about budgets. There are so many,on the job, healthcare workers now. Things that used to be done by Drs.or nurses are being done by nurses aides. It is very scary. The nurses and nurse assistants have more patients than they can competantly and compassionately care for. Drs. are seeing so many"no pay" patients that they don't make enough to maintain a single practice but must team with other Drs. to be ale to afford to pay their staffs.Everone in healthcare has to be more worried about the bottom lines than the patients. The population is getting older and the majority of the patient's are high maintenance requiring much more time for competant, professional care.We have to do something now. Please submit any ideas or thoughts. This problem all started with malpractice lawsuits. As the generation of baby-boomers continue to age, more physicians will be needed. How this will be done, I do not know. Perhaps medical schools should increase their class sizes or even lessen their rigorous admission requirements. The doctors that frequently do "Pro-bono" work are doing the right thing. Everyone deserves appropriate medical care, whether you can pay or not. |
