Man ,Had stoke;can't walk, put in nursing home;want's to go to own place!?

65 pension, social security, medicare, veteran, owns house -wife put him there-man want's help to get assistant liviving. Upper body and arms ok. Thinks clear and remembers past and present. coherent to events and converses with people. Just can't walk. Regardless of age -why are people put away sorely cause they can't walk? Because of a wife? FDR led this USA with his mind! Here's a man put away for his legs! What a crime-can't walk-good-bye! what can I do or see to help this man?

He needs to take his life in his own hands. He needs to take the
power of attorney away from his wife and make his own life
choices. There is'nt a thing wrong with the mans mind as you
have said and by law he can choose to live where he wishes
and decide his own course to take. Best thing to do is get a lawyer and fight!

this is a sad situation but what can you do? This is a sad thing we do to our elderly. The only thing you can do is make sure you take this example and treat your own family right,

You may not know the full story. Perhaps she is physically incapable of caring for this man...If he is 65, she is probably in her 60's as well and does not have the strength to lift or offer round the clock care that he deserves. She may have sent him to the home out of love.

Maybe you can find a semi old lady , who needs somebody just to be with , to talk with . Just not to be alone .
God bless and help you .

I think that if his wife really loved him and was able to take care of him that it is very wrong to place him into a home. My husband had 3 strokes and dialysis and I still kept him at home and cared for him 24/7. She can get help from various places to help so that he can remain at home and atleast have some of the same quality of life that he was accostumed to, Where there is a will there is a way, II did it and he Lived at home until a massive Coronary took him from me om 09=04-06. I would not have had it any other way.

thanks for 2 points
