Any other similar situations with pregnancy?

I've had some chronic high blood pressures (mostly that occur when im at work) which have sent me to the triage unit of my hospital. My doctor wants me to be seen now every 2 wks. and said that they would deliver my baby a week or so early by induction. She said at some of my last appointments she would be putting some kind of gel up there. Is this to prepair my cervix or something? Anyways what should I expect? My job is too demanding (physically and mentally) as a nurse assistant and I wish I could just tell my job to screw off!

It's called Cervadil, and it's used to ripen the cervix. Usually it will send you into labor on it's own, but if not, it will at least start to dialate you so if you use Pitocin, you'll probably have a better induction. Good luck :)

the gel is to make your cervix dilate, its not painful or anything so dont worry. Cant you talk to your boss to do less at work since you are pregnant?

Induction hurts more...I was induced and it took a while after the gel for anything to happen....when it did happen my waters broke and then after a while I was taken into the labour suite...then I was given Picotin by a drip in my arm...that makes you dilate further...it hurt a lot as I contracted so I had an epidural. Just ask what will happen...better to know and be armed.

tell your doctor you want a c section...they are the best thing ever!
