How should I respond to people's negative remarks on my new job? |
I will be finishing up my LNA (Licensed Nurse Assistant) classes and clinicals in a couple of weeks. I will be working in a nursing facility which I am looking forward to. I have had some people say things such as "why would you want to do that?", "all your gonna do is clean crap all day", etc. I get upset that people would have such a negative attitude on this because they need people in the medical field that have compassion, empathy, and respect for these people and I care alot to make someone's life a little better. To me it is such a rewarding field. I am looking for a response that I can give to make them realize that it takes a special person to do this, and that we should encourage people to join this field, not look down on it? Smile,Smile,Smile, and keep doing what you love. dint ! that will just be an excuse to fire you just be your self until your there long euff to lash back at them you should tell them what you just typed in. letting people know your honest feeling towards your job witha good reason to back it up is always the way to help them see the brighter side. and if it doesn't, they are just jerks. you obviously have chosen a career path which you are interested and enjoy, so go out there and do it, don't worry about what other people say about you. if you like it, then congratulations. if other people don't, that's their problem. i, personally, do no think you owe anyone an explanation as to Why you would go into this field. tell them to p!ss off. anyone telling you that kind of crap is jelous because your life is going somewhere and theirs obviously isnt. you didnt join the field for them and dont let them cause you to leave it. just keep doing what you love girl. just tell them to shut up and get over it, only in nicer terms,.. tell them what you think, and tell them that its your life, and stupid comments arnt going to change anything! Listen don't feed into no ones crap. Don't tell anyone about your field of work. This way you don't have to deal with others people opinion. Just say your a private nurse. I usually say something like, well I guess its a good thing it is not your job. I love it. And let it go You can respond by saying, "I love the career I chose, who knows someday I might be taking care of your----------(Grandmother, Grandfather, Mother, Father, Sister, Brother, Wife, Husband, Friend), so I think that would make you (the person making the negative comment) happy to know that they will be in good hands and taken care of!!!" |
