How old do I have to be to become a Certified Nurses Assistant?

These are just general requirements. I believe you also have to have your GED or HS diploma.<~~~~~ You know what I take that back.....you acn actually work as a nurses aide while in HS. I did!! lol I am an idiot!! Sorry ! LOL You can call your local college of interest and ask them to mail you info on the programs ! :) I do know in some states they have programs in which you can take courses in a nursing home or other health care facility that you plan on working. The college may also be able to tell you that. Good luck !:)


General CNA Requirements

All individuals placed on the Nurse Aide Registry must meet one of the following requirements:

1. Have successfully completed an approved nursing assistant training program

2. Have documentation of successful completion of a nursing arts course (e.g., Basics in Nursing, Fundamentals of Nursing, Nursing 101, etc.) with at least 40 hours of supervised clinical experience in an accredited nurse training program. Written verification is required. Student nurses are included in this category.

3. Have successfully completed a United States military training program that includes the content of the basic nurse assistant training program. Written verification is required. Military medics are included in this category.

4. Have successfully completed a nursing program in a foreign country and have provided the following documentation:

Proof of program completion
Copy of a social security card
Visa or proof of citizenship
