What does it take to become a Certified Nurses Assistant? |
Like what kind of classes to take? Im in USA, CA. So what classes are offered around LA at the moment? What are the requirements and do you need fluent english? I am asking on the behalf of my mom and I think she would be interested in this kind of job. How would the atmosphere be like? Will this job be held in a hospital, regular doctor's office, or what? Any info would much be appreciated. Thanks! nursing homes and sometimes hospitals too. (In our state) if you apply for employment and get hired the nursing home will often pay for the classes and state test. Theres a regular cna class that teaches you how to take blood pressures, temps things of that nature. My wife took it and it last about 4-6 weeks depending on where you live(state). Then you'll have two weeks of clinicals and a test and your done. There are very few positions in the hospitals but most nursing homes are begging for them. Not a good job for someone who has a big heart or weak stomoch. Too easy to get attached to elderly patients and such. You can take classes for free at a nursing home where they offer the class. You will have to call around your local area. CNA's are generally in the nursing home environment. I was a cna for years and I loved it but She will have to change adult diapers and deal with alot of Alzheimer's disease patients and will require heavy lifting. But it is an awarding position if you truly like to take care of other people. A simple smile you put on someones face will make your day. CNA'S usually work in hospitals, nursing homes, and for home health agencies. The do bathing, diaper changing, dressing and feeding, mostly. A lot of nursing homes offer CNA classes that last only a few weeks.CNA'S also do a lot of heavy lifting of patients. |
