Do you get paid more if you're a nurse assistant or a dental assistant? |
Do you get paid more if you're a nurse assistant or a dental assistant? State tested nursing assistants here (cleveland, OHIO) make above minimum wage, which isn't good considering the time and money invested in taking the necessary courses for it. My sister finally got a part-time job as an STNA at a Catholic hospital and she plans on becoming an RN. Most of the offers she had were for nursing homes where the pay is low and the work grueling. She previously applied at Cleveland Clinic and was offered the graveyard shift which including CLEANING and other janitorial duties. My mother is an STNA but she took additional certs to do home care. She's making about 30k per year, but she stays in the client's home during the weekends and few weekdays on a rotating schedule with three other home care providers. I know someone who's currently a dental assistant ("Spit cleaner" in her words) and she's not happy because in the Air Force she had a lot more responsibility and respect. She said the money isn't that good either, especially considering her experience. not more than as a trained nurse though i think the same pay In my area of the U.S.A., CERTIFIED nursing assistants get at least $1-$2 more per hour than dental assistants do. NON-certified nursing assistants get pretty much minimum wage. |
