Do people look down on Ceritfied Nursing Assistants just becasue they are the assistants?

And get the dirty jobs sometimes.

Also do you think day care teachers get the same rap because they also do diapers, but they also teach.

Some people especially the { I'm better than u type} r gonna look down .....NEVER MIND people looking down on you {the ones that mind "don't matter" the ones that matter 'don't mind'..........A Nursing Assistant position is NOTHING to be ashamed of dear. Not everyone can do that type work and especially if you choose it for the right reasons.{to make a difference in someones life, to help the ones no one has time to help, it could go on & on....To be a good N.A takes alot , like I said Not everyone can do it.. it can be a dirty job sometime, but think about how much good u do to help someone who can't help themselves, these people need caring people to to make their life easier in their last days...you're as "if not more" important to these lives than an LPN or RN.Be proud of your work IT IS VERY IMPORTANT... just ask the families or some of the patience will tell u how important u r to them. While I agree you should further your education {be All u can be} But Please don't be ashamed or feel bad about being look down on for Being an N.A ....U should be Very Proud!!!!!!!!!! Honestly, yes. Who doesn't want someone with the most schooling to be taking care of them? A CNA is down the list. Take some classes and become an LPN and keep moving up the ladder.

To be perfectly honest with you... I do as well as most people that I know that work in the healthcare field. CNA's and LPN's are looked down upon as glorified "diaper changers". I hate to say it but that is the perception.

I do not look down on Nurses assistants because I know how hard the schooling can be to get there. I had a friend go through it. I also know that you have to be the assistant before you can work your way up to more.

As for Daycare workers; they do not need to go to school where as teachers do. But I do not look down on them. They keep my babies safe. And the sad part of it is, sometimes they make more then the teachers that had to go to 4 years or more of school.

I worked for awhile as a CNA and from my perspective I can say that yes, we are looked down upon quite often. Sometimes because we are "just" the assistants (as hard and stressful of a job as it is) and almost everyone has more education than us. Sometimes because "oh well they're just professional butt wipers." However, I always felt this was unfair given my age (18 at the time I had this job) and my future plans to pursue college. Not everyone who is a CNA plans to stay so for the rest of their careers. Even if they don't have plans for furthur education, they need to be given more credit. Not everybody can afford a college education (like many of the nursing assistants I knew) or has the time because of having children, etc. Its a job that pays a lot better than other jobs you can get with just a high school diploma. Sadly enough I now feel more respected working in retail than I did as a CNA.

to answser the question about LPNs it depends on where they work. They usually take patients back to the rooms where the doctors see them, they can give shots, i think they can take blood as well I am not sure about that one but i do know that they do more than the CNA's and a little less than the RN's.

An LPN today is almost the same as an RN, especially if they have passed a medication course and can give meds. Pay isn't equal though! There are very few schools left, only one in my state. It takes as long to get an LPN as to get an RN in a 2 year college! Many colleges have transition programs that will allow an LPN to get an RN!

I think that people look down on CNA's, including nurses Many will let you do as much as you want to do.

CNA's are underpaid!
