Nurse assistant job...? |
What type of things you do you to do to be a nurse's assistant? it depends if you work in a nursing home or a hospital o am a nursing assistant and work in the hospital my shift is 3-11, basically what i do when i get there is the vitals, like: blood pressure, pulse, temp. also answer call bells if there is any pt (patient) that cant feed them self i assist with feeding. change the bed if its wet, change pt diaper. thats all. i heard that in nursing homes you do much more then in a hospital thou. depends on if your in a hospital or nursing home-- I have been a nurses assistant for nearly 5 years. You need to be able to transfer the patient (pt.) from the bed into a wheelchair, give a bed bath to the pt., give a shower to a pt., perform range of motion exercises on the extremities of the body, take vital signs, feed a pt., empty a urinal, provide a pt. with a bedpan, empty a foley catheter and take the patients weight using different machines. I work 3rd shift as a nurse assistant. I should make a round every 2 hours to check all the residents and change the incontinent ones that are wet. I answer call lights and possibly take vital signs. About 5am I start getting a few people washed up and dressed. It isn't too hard. But I don't like it. The work is nasty and the pay is not good. |
