Does anyone know if medical assistant refers to nursing??

No, it does not. A medical assistant (MA) works in a doctors office, sometimes they take blood to send to the lab and they take vital signs (blood pressure, temp etc).

Btw, this is VERY different from a Physician's Assistant (PA) - they are almost like docs themselves and make a lot of money.

A registered nurse (RN) is a professional degree and requires a lot more schooling than an MA (or a CNA or a LPN, which are are nursing assistants and practical nurses).

No it does not...A medical assistant is a multi-skilled healthcare professional who handles a number of things in outpatient clinics, hospitals, labs, etc...also they ASSIST doctors, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and are sometimes supervised by nurses. Nurses make a lot more money...MAs ca make anywhere from $12-$20 per hour, depending on where you work, and your educational/work background,...
