Is it legal for your job @ nursing assistant place to scan your finger prints and require that you use ur s.s# |
the s.s # is used as a password to punch in on a daily bases i have asked all of your questions and they say that there is no other way that you can use another # and it can only be ur s.s#. I've asked them about other ways and they won't move away from what they believe. The only thing someone needs is the last 4 of ur sociol correct why would I use that as a password? I dont know about it being illegal or not, but I tink the place should have you to asign yourself a password that you dont have a problem giving out. You shouldnt have to give or use your s.s.# for anything other than filing your tax info that is required with any job that you would recieve a payroll check. Your s.s.# isn't suppose to be used for any thing or isn't to be given out for your protection from idenity theft and things like that, your employer should know this and should stand behind it for your protection and thiers. maybe Yes they can do this no law against this. BUT a very bad idea. I would ask about using a made up number. I would not be happy about the SSN thing at all. In this day and age a lot of companies are doing that now to make sure (especially in medical and legal professions) that no one comes in and steals medical supplies and patient informations, etc. So if your company's a big one that you're working for chances are yes it's legal. If you're still unsure you can always check with the HR for their policies. Not uncommon. They could even demand daily blood samples to test against a database to confirm your identity. I would ask how secure their system is and express some concern over the legal liability if the SSNs are stolen. Be very careful not to threaten. Just a little concern. Yes it's legal. But you always have a choice. You can find a job where it's not required. |
