Getting them dressed, changing bed linens, stool samples, getting them to ambulate (sorry walk around). Basically what the nurses don't have time to do or don't want to do. I'm a nursing student and wowrked as an assisant for a while. HARD LABORER and a Heart!!! wiping, turning, sometimes feeding, and what ever is the patients is in need of. TO HELP THE PATIENCE TAKE THEM TO DINNER PUT THEM IN BED CLEAN AND SHOWER THEM. MOSTLY ANYTHING THE PATIENT NEEDS BESIDES MEDICINE. being a nurse assistant is alot of work because most jobs are at convalescent homes and you will be dealing mostly with patients that cant move so you will be helping them get up to the restroom or even clean them if they are confined to their bed, clean their area, bathe them and feed them. you must have a big heart to do this and allllloooottt of patience most of the time nurse assistants work under a registered nurse. If you want to start in the medical field then maybe you should become a medical assistant instead. |
