What is a certified nursing assistant?

What is a certified nursing assistant?

A certified nursing assistant is someone who has gone through a specified number of training hours in providing personal care for people such as hospital patients or nursing home residents. They have earned a certificate that shows they have successfully completed an in depth training in working alongside and under licensed and registered nurses. They have learned how to take temperature, pulse, respiration's, blood pressures. They have learned how to spot problems to be reported to the nurse. They have learned how to properly care for, and assist, people who need nursing assistance in a variety of situations. They are a very caring, serving type of person who wants to help others in need. They are a very special group of people who deserve the highest of praise. :)

well, it's a person who has taken a required number of training hours to assist a nurse. if you work in a nursing home, you're the person who takes care of the residents needs(grooming, toileting, etc), while the nurse does treatments and/or gives medications.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is an assitant to the RN, registered nurse. The CNA would do any delegations the nurse assigned to them, ie: baths, ambulation, vitals, assistance with meals, etc. The CNA would never dispense meds, as the nurse will always be responsible for that. If you're interested in being a CNA, I highly recommend you look into a RN degree. You can obtain your associates in three years and the pay highly increases. Good luck!

As a Nursing Assistant, you will be qualified to care for the sick, injured, convalescent, and disabled under the supervision of physicians, licensed practical nurses, and registered nurses.

also known as a "CNA". They are basically the wingman to the nurse. You can usually obtain a certificate for a CNA course thru a hospital or nursing home. Usually they are fairly cheap. Sometimes even cheap. They are usually responsible for the patient's vitals (temperature, blood pressure, etc). They can not administer meds nor take blood. They usually do not report to the doctors as nurses do either. It's a good course to get in to if you want to pursue a nursing degree.
