Aren't black associations racist?

There are things like BET (Black Entertainment Television) and hundreds of black associations such as national association of nurses, of journalists, of accountants, etc. If there were things like this for "whites" wouldn't that be considered racism or segregation? I don't understand.

I actually like BET because I like rap music, but I see what some of you mean that it should not be representative of an entire race. Equal representation is an interesting point, but isn't that what the united states constitution is for?

Using their defination of "white racist", yes. What would happen if there was a Miss White America Pagent? There is a double standard. Only whites can be racist. Just ask any black man, he will tell you so.

It's because blacks want to hang with blacks. If whites had a group for whites only then well,ahh,I guess it would be a place whites could hang out together. Everyone knows too many whites hanging together would be well, just not right....for some reason.

amen! we would be sued if we had ANYTHING like that. they have all black colleges and scholarships but DARE us do that-there would be an outrage. why is there such a double standard? they play the victims, always, but if they say anything racial- so what..we have to deal with it because we supposively 'owe' them something. give me a break. they want to say the 'white man' brings them down but if they look around at each other they are the ones that are ruining their OWN reputation.

No those organizations are not racist and they are not only limited to black people. There are organizations like that for Latinos and Asians as well. I believe that those organizations are formed so that everyone can have equal representation.
I don't think that there is anything black about BET though. I hate that channel because it glamorizes black stereotypes as though all black people do is sit around listening to rap music and calling each other the n word.
