Still Scared At 22?

I Am 22 Years Old, Have My Own Apartment, Steady Job, Fully Independent, And Yet, I Am Still Terrified To Tell My Mom I'm Pregnant. She's A Reproductive Health And Maternal Health Nurse. She's Crazy Obessive Over Healthy Children, Healthy Pregnancies, Healthy This Healthy That. Which Is Great And I Think I'm Really Lucky To Have Her For A Mother. But I'm Scared Of Her Reaction, I Was To Scared To Even Ask Her When I First Thought I Was Pregnant. Had My Own Professional. I'm A Semester From Receiving My Bachelor's, No Reason To Be Terrified, But Still. Any Stories On How You Broke It To Those You Were Most Scared To?

Believe me, Parents will turn out to be your biggest support- I dont know why your mom will react negatively - but give her some space. Especially in her profession she seems like someone you would want around- We're talking about HER grandchild- Of course you should tell her right away. She will be your biggest support! It may take her some time to get used to it , but its better sooner than later!

Well, I don't think you should be scared.
It's ok, things like this happen, if she's a good mother, she'll be happy for you! =)

with my 1st I sent her a card-she lived out of state- Hallmark has cards you make yourself I made a real pretty card about being a grandma- she loved it- 2nd & 3rd my son told her

omg this was so me. i'm 23, have my own house, a good job, everything and i was so afraid to tell my mother. but i just sat down with her one night and told her that i was going to have a baby. she wasn't happy at all, we are very close and it hurt really bad. she didn't talk to me for weeks. but finally we are starting to talk and she is coming around. i just knew that i wanted to be one to tell her and not anyone else. hopefully your mom will react better than mine.

Why do you cap every word? You should know better.. even my five years old cap only at the beginning of the sentence and proper name.

Are you married, if not that why she will be mad.

my mom was disappointed at first. im' a year away from my bs and she wanted me to graduate before i had kids now surprise i'm prego due in november. but hey you are happy and that's all that matters. i was crazy excited and happy but i knew my mom wouldn't be but i had to just tell her. just stay happy and postive for the baby :) ooh i'm 21. but everything will be fine. you seem to have a good head on your shoulders and nothing can stop you :) i know nothing will stop me from getting my degree. my mom i know was afraid that if i did have a baby before my degree i would end up like her without a college degree raising a family. you mom just loves you and wants the best for you... so if she does get mad just give her time to process it. it took my mom a day or so to finally open up to the pregnancy. good luck and just stay happy as you can be :)

oh i had a friend who hid her pregancy from everyone during hs and the only reason her mom found out was when she went into labor. her mom was very very mad most at the fact that she never told her. so just think of it that way. if you don't tell her... will she be mad that you never told her in the first place? i know my mom would have been mad if i told her til later on.

I would do it in a creative way, like buy a card with something about 'Grandma'' in it, and give it to her... I think since her job involves that, she will be excited for you! Good Luck!!
