How do you become an RN with a bachelors in psychology?

I was looking up careers in psychology and found out that I can become an RN with a bachelors in psychology. How is this possible when the nursing programs are very competitive and once you enter the program you have to do clinicals, learn about diseases (etc) which has nothing to do with psychology. If this is true, how long does it take?

It doesn't have to a bachelors in only psychology. As long as you have a bachelors or higher, they have a BSN program specifically for people with bachelor degrees. Its designed for you to learn the diseases and you also have a clinical component..
I think the program is less than 2yrs not sure. Depends which school you apply to. I'm also not sure, but i think they have accelerated program for people with bachelors. Its intense but youll finish faster.
Check with schools you are interested with about their requirements i.e GPA, pre reqs, tests, etc.

I'm sure that there is actually a lot of psychology related to nursing and one's caseload. Illness and disability can really change a person's life and quality of life, and I believe that 'therapeutic communication' is even taught in nursing school. The nurse deals with not only the patient but their family and friends. To go a step further, psychiatric nursing may be a clinical for the nursing student but not certain if that's for each student. You may be able to look at an associate degree in nursing which would be less schooling than a BSN (bachelor of science in nursing.)
