If I go thru an ASN program and graduate will I have to another nursing prgram to obtainmy BSN or is it just a

list of classes required to obtain the bachelors? Please former nursing students and RNs on this one.I think I would like to get my bachelors in nursing in the long run but just the AA program is tuff, wondering if I want to put myself thru hell again.

To complete your BSN, you need to enroll at a college / university that offers the RN-BSN completion program and apply to their program, just as you did with your ADN program.

You WILL have clinicals you will be required to perform in Public Health at the very least, because you don't get that in your ADN program. You might also have a preceptorship in a clinical site, or other courses that require some minimal clinical time (15-20 hours per class usually).

But you can still find programs where all your courses are online. Local state universities and colleges often offer these programs, don't pay Phoenix - they are a for-profit school that charges almost twice what my local university charges for their online program.

What I will tell you is that the BSN completion programs are NOTHING like the initial RN licensure program. There is very little pressure. Fewer tests, mostly papers. Clinicals are not as pressured, and you are doing more observations than hands-on. It's a lot more theory-based, and you learn a lot about nursing history, different care models, etc. It's really not terrible. And these programs let you work at your own pace- there is no mandatory 2 year sequencing. You could take 1 class per semester if you wanted.

Also, you have more general education electives to complete for the BSN, it's not ALL nursing courses, once you fulfill their grad requirements, you can usually pick from some fun non-nursing stuff that you might actually enjoy.

You won't have to go through another clinical nursing program. It tough, but it isn't hell either like regular nursing school. It isn't exactly just a "list of classes" either. Many reputable colleges off RN to BSN programs online.
