Should I get bachelor's in Nursing or Associate would be sufficient in order to get a good job as an RN? |
I already have my BA in Business Administration, and I have an option to get accelerated Bachelor's in Nursing. Does it really make a difference since I'll get RN license either way??? Go for the Bachelors in Nursing and then you can obtain a Masters degree in nursing if you choose much easier with I believe just one more year or so of education. The money you can make is the big difference. God bless**** You will find the pay scale higher if you have a bachelor's degree. You will also have more room for advancement. You need a BA. These days an Associates is not good enough. i don't think you can be an RN with just an associates degree, you need a bachelors or maybe even a masters I have an Associates in Nursing & I work in a hospital in Wisconsin. The 2 yr & 4 yr graduates take the same NCLEX exam to get their licenses. This is nationwide by the way. The 2 yr is quick & more intense. The nursing shortage is so large that there are numerous opportunites for new graduates with just an Associates degree. At the hospital, they pay all staff nurses the same regardless of their degree. If you want to work in management, then you will need a Bachelor's. Many facilities also allow you to teach nursing courses without a Master's degree, which used to be mandatory. The facility you choose will orientate you very well so you will be competent. A BSN definitely has it's advantages over an ADN. Both are required to take the NCLEX, however, with a BSN you can work for the State, such as being a school nurse. Also, with a BSN the possibilities of advancing in the field of nursing are higher. There is a nurse I know that has her ADN in nursing, her BA in business, & her masters in psycology, she is a nurse educator at a college. |
