What is the nursing care of acidosis in A&E?

i am a student nurse and i have a talk to do on what care is involved when a patient arrives in A&E showing signs of acidosis

Its accident and emergency and it was a general question on acidosis!!!We were not given anything specific.

first of all... can you elaborate on A&E -- because it means a lot of things.
and what kind of acidosis are we talking here?
