To continue or not continue?

Since the beginning of Septermber, I have tooken into consideration the whole "career" issue. Ever since the age of 7, I've dreamt of saving animals and being a vet. My marks weren't that great, so I went into Animal Health Tech to be a vet nurse. Now half way done, other options randomly came to mind:occupational theraphy, medical imaging tech, a bach in social work, child youth worker, special care councellor.. Etc. I've decided that it would be best for me to take a semester off to decide, giving me two months to apply to another program after Dec. I feel the need to reevaluate my options, save money and I'd love to do volunteering. Some people have agreed and some people have disagreed. I dont want to start working when I'm 30 either! But I need to graduate from cejep and university. I'm only 19 right now. I need to hear other opinions maybe?

lol, i actually do come from quebec

Taking time off can be a very good thing - AND you want to decide what you want to do with that time. For example when I took off a semester from college I was thinking of changing majors and so I got a paid job in the field I was thinking of changing to (social work). This helped me be clear that I did want to change my major to social work. So you might want to take a job in one of the ares you are looking at (or even in a vets office).

Don't just take off 2 months and work at your local restaurant or such...really think about how to use your time to help your decision.

Write down your goals and dreams. You don't need to wait to make them happen. Sometimes life takes funny twists and turns that puts you on a different path. But prolonging it by taking a few months off is not getting you any closer to your goal. Just take some general medical related classes in the meantime, but you need to clearly define your dream before you can make them come to you. It is common to be confused about it. Just keep going.... going.... going and one day you will get there!

First learn proper grammar. Tooken? That's not a word. It's TAKEN.

After you brush up on your grammar, you could then take some English writing courses. You need learn to organize your thoughts and logically put them on paper.

I went through the same thing. I wanted to help people I am a people person. I went in to business management because I tend to fight for what I want, I can be stubborn and a decent negotiator. After one and a half semesters at school I really started to hate what I was going to school for, it was not me.

I quit school mid semester and took some time for myself. i felt like my high school had left me very stressed and ready for a break and I was being shoved in to something I didnt want to do.

My wake up call: really watching the people around me. Researching careers and salaries and really researching schools around me. I quit my part time job, regained some discipline I had lost when I went to college and moved out of my parent's house and I started a full time job. I realized this is not what I need at this stage in my life, I need to go back to school abd it really made me think about it quickly.

Here I am (I wish I had some great success story for you), ready to quit my full time job and to enroll in school again and this time go full tilt. Sometimes you just need a moment to think about what YOU want. Really what is important to you?

Michael G - who dont know NOTHING!!!
