Abnormal Pap during pregnancy? |
I recently found out I am pregnant and so I got a pap done... I got a letter stating that there was cervical dysplasia.... My question is all of my lab work came out normal, and whenever I am NOT pregnant my paps are normal should I be worried? Or not? When I called the dr's office, I stated my next appt is in a week... Should I come in now or wait until my appt... The Nurse told me to wait until my appt... Should I be worried? When the Dr did the pap I asked him if everything looked ok (i know he can't be 100% because he needs to send the specimen off to the lab) I mean he's probulary done a lot of paps in his career and certain things are noticable right? So If he saw something (anything abnormal) he would have told me right instead of saying "it looks ok".... Help.... Could this be cervical cancer or hpv? Just calm down. Go to the doctor and let him take care of it. Sometimes pregnancy brings changes in the cervix. Calm - do not stress out. The exact same thing happened to me and I know it is scary. I was lucky and after I delivered the baby the dysplasia disappeared. Before my baby was born, my doctor and I discussed the possibility of treatment if it did indeed become cancerous. It was a very stressful situation but it all worked out in my case. Hope it goes well for you. dont worry at all. an abnormal pap is very very common during pregnancy thanks to all those lovely hormones. lol i had one, and all of my friends who have gotten paps done during pregnancy had an abnormal one as well. nothing to worry about. they just want to make sure so will probably do a biopsy, which is normal too. they will call and schedule this if needed. so just wait until the appointment next week! I had an abnormal pap right after i had my baby (during the 6 week check up) they told me i had HPV and i had to get a biopsy and they told me i had mild dysplasia. from what nurses have told me, it takes a little while for cervical cancer to develop and you said that when you werent pregnant, your paps were normal. so i dont think you should worry about anything. whatever it is, was probably caught in early stages. and if they say you have dysplasia, they're probably just going to find out if its mild or severe, thats all. congratulations on your pregnancy! take care f yourself. I really would not worry, all my paps came back abnormal when I was pregnant and i was totally fine..Pregnancy messes with your body a lot, after you are pregnant if you still have abnormal paps they will likely do a biopsy , that is what they did with me and it came back totally fine. |
