What is a "personality disorder"? (I bet you don't know!)?

Is my social worker, Doctor, Nurse, allowed to write down that I have a personality disorder. Will it affect my career?

Can my boss write this down on a reference (e.g. Adjustment Anxiety Disorder) ?

Can I get locked away in a "looney bin" for this?

What kind of personality disorder? There are types of disorder in medical terms. Just by telling us personality isn't much to think about it. Because when you tell us personality everybody has personality even dogs I believe have one. But as the internet dictionary define PD-

Personality disorder, formerly referred to as a Characterological disorder is a class of mental disorders characterized by rigid and on-going patterns of thought and action. The underlying belief systems informing these patterns are referred to as fixed fantasies. The inflexibility and pervasiveness of these behavioral patterns often cause serious personal and social difficulties, as well as a general impairment of functioning.

Personality disorders are defined by the American Psychiatric Association as "an enduring pattern of inner experience and behavior that deviates markedly from the expectations of the culture of the individual who exhibits it". [1] These patterns, as noted, are inflexible and pervasive across many situations, due in large part to the fact that such behavior is ego-syntonic (i.e., the patterns are consistent with the ego integrity of the individual), and therefore, perceived to be appropriate by that individual. The onset of these patterns of behavior can typically be traced back to the beginning of adulthood, and, in rare instances, early adolescence. [1]

I think you should consult a psychiatrict doctor to help you cope with your disorder dysfunction. There are drugs in the market that could help you some how to diminish or totally eliminate the symptoms of the dysfunction.

Your medical history should NEVER be shared under any circumstances between employers. It is against HIPPA guidelines and illegal. If you told your employer, that is fine, but he still can't share it. I would never let an employer know, even being illegal, they often do things illegal and while you are left to fight the injustice, you have a ruined reputation until it is resolved.

And no, you cannot get locked away in a looney bin unless you become a danger to others or yourself...and even then, court orders have to be obtained to make you go.

just pray that you'll get well soon....hhhhmmmm....can comment on that...
