I am really lost...?

Hi, not that I am lost. Not even a big deal. Just a little confused. I was gung-ho joing the USCG. I want to do my part for the country, and the people. I am still gung-ho about joining the U.S. Military. I am wavering back and forth on if I should change my major from law enforcement to nursing. I don't even really know what I want to major in. I would like to do a little of everything. You know S.A.R., triage, nursing, investigator, being in the action, paramedic, rescuing those in distress. But theres no major that teaches that. That would be cool if there was. I am just curious about other military branches. I was wondering what kind of careers focus on S.A.R., etc... all that? I mean I'll look around. But be great if anyone could give me any insight on prior experience on those focuses? Or careers in the military on those focuses? I appreciate the help. Have a good one.

Right now I am working towards a Criminal Justice major. Thank you for the response though.

Why don't you look into the Criminal Justice major? maybe you can major in that and join the Guard.

Consider a double major. Then look into creating a major that encompasses the "triage, nursing, investigator, being in the action, paramedic, rescuing those in distress" that you mentioned.

Listen, the military is just a job. It isn't some kind of exciting major role in an action adventure movie. Not only that, it is very low pay with the hours you put in. For people that have no other options and are looking to be taught valuable skills that can get them jobs later in life, it is a wonderful thing. Why do you think the majority of the military is made up of people that come from low-income family backgrounds (including myself, by the way)?

I know that alot of people think that if you don't know what to do in life that you should join the military to decide, but you don't need the military for that in my opinion. Chances are you will be miserable and locked into something for up to four years that you can't get out of.

You can learn alot in the military, but mostly what you end up learning is how dumb people are and how lucky you are. Discipline and drive can be taught in any college in America or even self-taught.

If you want to help people, go into the medical field or become a cop or fire fighter/medic. You don't need the military for any of that.

All I am saying is open your eyes to the reality, not the fantasy. You are bound to be disappointed after you join. Good luck.

Coast Guard or Air Force Para Rescue. They will train you, with or without a degree, once in, you can always go back to school and use your GI Benefits also...
