Why is everyone so harsh on divorced people?

I've been married 4 times and I'm 42. My 3rd husband was my age and DIED of CANCER. People have problems in their lives that force them into situations. Yes I am a Christian and go to God for my answers. There are people who are married 9 times or more. This is not uncommon in our society today. I have worked many careers in my life, one of them was nursing. Being bipolar places extra stress on relationships of all kinds. No I don't want to get married for a 5th time. I want to fix the one I have. I did not want to marry "someone my father's age". He happened to be helpful when I was homeless. He wanted to marry me. Not my idea. He wanted to move out of state also, so I thought maybe a change of scenery would help, it didn't. I had no place to go except the street. Sometimes life chooses us, we don't choose our life. Bipolar is a difficult disease to deal with. Please help me by helping others by not being so judgmental. Thank you for your support in my previous question

I think that when people hear the word "divorce" we automatically think that there must have been a fight, or some type of an affair. I am truly sorry to hear about your third husband. And you are right, people are a little harsh on people who have been divorced, as well as people who have been married more than twice, again we automatically think that there might be a problem with that person. Seriously, people in general are very judgmental. It's your life and you shouldn't really let other people's negative thoughts get to you. People will always criticize what they don't understand.

It is. I have been through a lot myself. A lot of people want to assume that you can just think your way out of MI... Don't let the opinions of people that don't understand get you down. I know that is hard enough for people without MI, but you need that skill even more. Do you go to any support groups? NAMI is great, and they can help you understand that what you are going through is really pretty common.

We only give advice here..

I'm divorced and I could care less what other people think. They did not walk in my shoes and have no idea what really went on. If they want to judge me, they better think twice about that because I sure as hell will judge them back and they will most definitely get their feelings hurt.

being bipolar is very difficult but not everyone who has multiple marriages is bipolar and neither does everyone who is bipolar divorce. my grandparents were married for 65 years before my grandfather passed away. he was diagnosed in his early 40's. luckily he and grandma were able to make it work. there are many stressors in a marriage, but it sounds as though you are trying to justify multiple marriages not bipolar disorder. if you want to find support for bipolar than talk of your insight into why you have been through multiple husbands in only 20 years, tell of what happened and how you felt, how they reacted to your bipolar symptoms ect. i send my hope for your future stability and happiness.
