What will happen in court for driving on a suspended license while on probation for a past DUI?

Please, serious answers only! I live in California, This year has been a nightmare. I have never even had a speeding ticket in the 20 years I have been driving. I am a responsible person who made a serious mistake. I had my enrollment documentation and had just recieved my SR22 in mail from insuranse. I was waiting to get to the DMV w/ 125.00$ to get license. The officer was pretty cool, he told me I had to go get my license ASAP and it may help when I get before the judge.

Anyone experience something similar to this ? Please be serious, I already know I deserve whatever I get I just want to be prepared. I have a family and three kids and I am a nurse who does not want to loose her career.(this will show up on my DOJ backround checks) How much can a lawyer really do?

Seriously though if you violate probation, you could very well end up doing some jail time.

The officer gave you good advice, get your license back as soon as possible. Although you still broke the law when driving without a license, showing you have one now will sometimes help you. (The case for my husband, not the case for Paris though)

I would also suggest going to court a few days early...observe the judge and see how he treats others for the same offense...learn from that and be prepared on your court date. Take the free lawyer (if you qualify). If you don't qualify, hire a lawyer. Make sure you check him out as well, a snotty lawyer can get you into more trouble with the judge, I learned that from experience too.

You may get lucky and be able to do community service instead of jail time... ask.
If you do have to do some jail time, do weekends and ask about 4 day weekends. I can't say with every jail, but the one in our county you do normal weekends from 7pm friday to 7 pm sunday. But you can get 4 days worth of credits if you stay just 12 more hours until monday morning at 7. You get two extra days of credit for just 12 more hours.

you will probobly have to go to driving school and pay a big fine... and it also depends on the judge.
