Is it good to be a nurse? |
Many people want to become nurses because it has a lot of benefits and good pay. But i'm still not so sure about this career. I have been a RN for many years. I, personally, love it 99.9% of the time. It is a very challenging occupation and there is always something new to learn. It is not a boring profession. It can be quite stressful at times. Also, you'll have 2 work weekends, holidays, and crazy hours. But, you get used to it. I wanted to point out the downside of being a nurse.Being a nurse is a very rewarding career. You'll always be able to get a job. The pay is ok but, then again, it depends on which State that you work in. If you enjoy helping people, caring for people, then go for it !! In knowing that you helped a patient recover from an illness or a surgical procedure, is self-satisfying. You can always just try to get a 2 year degree for RN. You'll need the basic courses such as History, Math, English etc. which can applied to any degree that you may decide to choose. I hope that this helps and Good Luck. it iz good 2 b a nurse yes being a nurse is a good thing. and yes you can work at differnt levels of being a nurse... I'm not a nurse, so I can't speak about pay and benefits. However, as a family member who has dealt with the progression of age and illness in my ailing parents and in-laws, I can't stress enough how important nurses are to the well-being of both the patients and their families. Nurses are a source of comfort, information, and true strength when families are dealing with ailing loved ones. Nurses make all the difference in the world. They truly are angels. AS I SAID TO ONE PERSON IT IS MINOR DUCKETS IN A THANKLESS JOB. PTS EXPECT YOU TO WAIT ON THEM HAND A FOOT AND WIPE THEIR BUTTS AND CLEAN UP VOMIT. USELESS ANCILLARY STAFF, PEOPLE TREAT YOU LIKE A SERVANT AND YOUR MANAGERS EXPECT YOU TO PERFORM MIRACLES TO GET 100% ON CUSTOMER SATISFACTION SURVEYS. IT SUCKS. YOU GET EMOTIONALLY ATTACHED TO PEOPLE AND THEN THEY DIE. GOOD LUCK I am very happy in my career as a Registered Nurse. I think you would get more responses to your question from the following site: it is good to be a nurse my older sister has graduate form the nursing program in HCC has you have said lot of people become nursing because of the pay and if you learn Spanish in high school you will have more benefits more than the people who don't talk to a person who is already a nurse to get the pros and the cons of the job. it depends on where ;you work and who you work with. nursing jobs are always available-wonder why. could it be they work nights, holidays and weekends, missing out on family times. could it be they can't do their nursing job because of all the paper work, or, could it be they have too many patients to care for because the department works short staffed. the patients family members in todays society have moved into the hospital room day and night with the patients and takes alot more time on your nurse job keeping you from attending to other patients. i could go on, but, good pay and benefits are available at alot of jobs not just hospitals. in todays world we see alot more contagious patients than before especially with tb on the rise, and not to mention other diseases. again talk to several nurses or walk along with a nurse on a shadow program thru a hospital. be sure to talk to more than one person. listen to the good and the bad. hospital personnel will probably hook you up with someone who will paint pie in the sky and make you believe the job is fabulous when not all the facts are known. |
