What kinds of doctors exist?...?

I want to know what kinds of doctors there are and what they do...I am especially but not solely interested in doctors for womens health...is there a site with this info on it? I know that an ob/gyn is not the only doctor geared towards womens health and know there are several kinds of doctors as well...I am trying to narrow down a career choicefor myself and finding out what is out there is vital...there are many careers I don't even know of...I was thinking of midwifery but I am interested in going beyond nursing (although it is a beautiful occuption) is there some sort of midwife doctor or what...as you can see I don't even know what's out there to narrow down a decision...please help! and THANK YOU for your input to all.

For traditional medicine, I found this link:

http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/...

I know a kind: Chinese Doctors, they use herbs to help patients.

Psychiatrist
Physiologist
Internal Medicine
Oncologist
Pulmonary
Cardiology
Thoracic
Ob-Gyn
Pediatric
Podiatrist
There are alot more fields also.

You may even decide to become a Certified Physician's Assistant. You can see patients and prescribe medications just like a doctor but with a lot less schooling. It's also a less competitive field.

I honestly wouldn't worry about what kind of specialty you're interested in until you've applied and been accepted to medical school. The reason is because you will complete rotations in various specialities around the hospital and it's clinics. You will, as most interns do, change your mind frequently based on your experiences.

I am a Nurse and LOVE my career and people I get to meet.
But I had no idea which field I really wanted to work in.
I suggest to you to go and do your course. You will find something that just grabs you by the hair and won't let you go.
Gyno is a fantastic field but you might decide you hate all those woman yelling and screaming about pain. And the situations you can be put in.
You might like paeds, which I can't stand. I love kids but can't stand the crying and complaing. I have to listen to it at home.
Palitive care scares me to death but it's the one that has grabbed me.
Get in there and scearch around.
Good luck.
