What do you advise, My partner and I are in love but people wont accept it? |
I am 29 and my partner is 36. I am a nurse and have done well in my career. My new partner is a man who fell into drug abuse at 15 and came out of it a couple of years ago and now is clean, healthy etc. The perfect man for me, kind, understanding, patient and we love each other. the problem I have is that he does not speak or look like so called normal people in my society. he is gorgeous to me and is training to be a drug counsellor but other people look down there noses at him all the time as he used drugs. he tries hard but he sometimes sounds like he is from the streets and looks older than his years but i hate how he is judged so much and people offend me by commenting we make an odd couple as I am so conservative. any advice??? H ehas been screened for illnesses and has assessments done mentally to start training on his course. he fellinto it after his mum dad died. If you love and adore this man like it sounds, then grab him with both hands and don't let go! I should be so lucky! Don't ever worry about what others think and say, it is your life, and you live it, girl! He has only been clean for a couple of years? How do you know he will stay clean? Someone who has used drugs for that many years is probably not healthy and more than likely has some kind of mental issues. I think I would be wearly if I were you. What's important? Your relationship with him or those people? Politely tell them that you two are happy together and that they should mind their own business. you know, trying to change other people is usually not a good idea. Why?because you get frustrated, and they start to hate you.,what you have to do, is go on to your life. always remember that it's not what other people thinks is what matters but how do you think about yourself. Do you love him? Is he the one you want to be with?He has turned his life around and is now training to help others fight the same addiction that he once had? That is wonderful!! |
