Whats it like to be a pharmacist? Fun, hard, challenging?

Do you enjoy your career. Whatr is your responsibilities? Is it much more stressful than nursing?

It is hard but fun and challenging. It is hard, because you need to continuously update yourself with current information on health related topics, especially on medicines. (It is very hard when the medicine the patient needs is out of stock). It is fun because you meet lots of different people from all walks of life, especially when you do patient medication counselling. Your communication skills (when you are sincere and you smile a lot) will earn you many friends.. It is challenging because of the so many issues you have to face like, when a patient laments the he cannot afford the drug and you feel like
giving the item for free... or you feel like referring him to the nearest social worker for financial assistance, or you feel like suggesting therapeutically equivalent medicine but you cannot contact the doctor at the moment....

I worked at walgreens for a while, but not as a pharmacist. I talked to several of the pharms there and they said the job was boring but it pays okay. I would imagine it is a challenging job with many tasks, but also at the same time I wouldnt think it would be that challenging for someone who is mentally capable of the tasks at hand. The best advice that i could give u is to go to the local pharmacy in your area and talk to a few employees.
